FIFA -20 World Cup
The path to the -20 WC
The FIFA -20 World Cup is held every two years. This World Cup doesn't involve any individual qualifying games. A place in the -20 WC is awarded during the -19 European Championship. The National Teams can qualify for the -20 WC during this campaign when the final round of the European Championship is played in a year with an even number.
Malaysia 1997
Belgium has participated once in the FIFA -20 World Cup: in Malaysia 1997, where our boys were coached by Ariel Jacobs. The most famous of our WC players from the time are goalkeeper Jean-François Gillet, defender Carl Hoefkens and striker Cédric Roussel.

Our country came third in its group with 4 points but went through to the last 16. In the last game our compatriots suffered a heavy defeat 10-0 at the hands of Brazil. In the WC group stage our Young Devils beat the host country Malaysia and drew in their game against Morocco.
